How to get wifi passwords using kali linux (step by step + explanation of virtualization and configuration)

Greetings friends of steemit, it is an honor to be with you once again, first of all I want to thank you for the support as more than 100 followers is a great achievement and I hope we are many more hehe, today I have a super post that will motivate them to continue investigating a little more about this interesting operating system that is par excellence a great pentesting tool, I'm talking about kali linux for those who do not know this operating system today we are going to obtain a WEP password Some Wi-Fi network, it should be noted that this post is intended to learn the operating system and how it works, a little about computer security, without further adding we begin with the post.

Step 1: Configure the network in virtual box

In virtualized operating systems with this tool called virtual box can be given the different cases in which the network card is not recognized or maybe if it recognizes it but as if it were a local area connection, so this would not be useful for our goal of obtaining passwords of wifi networks, for this we will have to configure and install the drivers as shown. We are located in the virtual box interface and in the "configuration" section we click to go to networks and add the option "bridge adapter" the model of our wifi adapter, and also in advanced options change our promiscuous mode to "allow everything" In addition to removing the option that comes marked by default "cable connected"

Step 2: Run the Kali Linux

As we can see in the picture, only the wired option is shown, even the operating system does not recognize our Wi-Fi adapter, for that we will have to download the drivers inside the Linux kali, just look for the model of your adapter.

Step 3: Install the drivers

After having our drivers, we go to the terminal and type the location where our files are located, with the following command:

Then we list with the ls command to visualize the files contained in the location:

We go to the uncompressed folder to then list the files again and make sure they contain all the necessary for proper installation.

Now if we proceed to install the drivers, we will use the "make unload" commands and then "make load" as shown in the images

Then you verify that the operating system already detects the network adapter

Step 4: Open the terminal to type the commands that will help to obtain the passwords

There are many ways to obtain passwords with this operating system, but in this step by step you will use a basic method, the idea is not to limit yourself and look for many other possible options. Next proceed to type the command iwconfig to visualize that we have available the wlan

Proceed to type the commands "airmon-ng check kill" and airmon-ng check

After having used the commando airmon-ng start wlan0 to initialize this wlan we proceed to list the possible wifi networks that will be our victims as shown below:

With this command "airodump-ng wlan0mon" the wifi networks will be listed where we will have to search for its mac address and add it to another command that will crack the password:

With the command reaver -i wlan0mon -b "here goes the network mac to hack" -vv -k 1, we can visualize the passwords of the victims being as follows:

In this way we obtain the passwords with this type of networks.
