Howdy, @len.george
I'd say the motivation to get the kinks out has got to be huge, yes?
But what is a Skippy? No, let me guess. You know I'm from Australia and that makes you think of kangaroos... and that makes you think of "Skippy the bush kangaroo", a favorite among kids of an earlier generation (yours perhaps?).
For twenty-six odd years in the RNZAF, we would do exercises with the RAAF, they were always known as skippies a. because of the TV show, b, because they kept skipping their turn to buy the beer.
Surely not. An Aussie skipping out on buying beer??!!
[just kidding]
So you're a Kiwi. Nice to meet you, Len. We lived in NZ for 7 years back in the 1970s. Loved it.
We did a pub crawl in Brisbane, the Skippies would only drink Thoughys [a miss spelt Tui], or XXXX [how the clever ones spell beer], they wouldn't mix them, so there was a bunch of Skippies standing on the pavement waiting for us to have our round before we continued.
I vaguely remember it was a good afternoon/night, I think
Where abouts in Paradise were you?
Len, sounds like that'd be Tooheys.
We live in Canberra, which - despite the opinion of some folks - is quite a nice place to live. Being inland, it avoids the humidity of coastal regions so even when it's hot in summer (with temperatures in the mid 30s C.) it doesnt feel unbearable due to the low humidity. When we get house sitting gigs near the coast, we notice the difference in the air. And are glad to get back to Canberra. But it does get a bit chilly in winter. Apparently tonight we're expecting it to get down below 10 degrees C.
