A company named Varjo recently release a new Virtual Reality display technology, called “20|20” – "The First Human Eye-Resolution VR/AR/XR Immersive Display", that is 10 years ahead of any graphics and resolution capability of any VR system currently on the market, including Oculus and other VR systems. While Oculus is currently at around 1.2 MP (megapixel) resolution with market predictions saying VR will be at 16 MP in 5 years, Varjo's VR system is 70 MP.
The initial release of Varjo will be in Q4 2017 for professional users and applications. Looking at the Varjo images below (from the Varjo website at http://www.varjo.com), it is getting to the point where we won't be able to visually distinguish between animated images and so called real images. Combine that with advanced artificial intelligence systems coming out, and soon, humans will be able to decide to live in the 'real world' or immerse themselves in an alternative reality that is just as real as the one in which we reside.
Is it real, or is it Varjo? You decide.
