CEO Elon Musk has suggested that there could be up to 40 "bad apples" who have committed "sabotage" against the company in an apparent effort to thwart Tesla's ambitious promised ramp-up to producing 5,000 Model 3s per week.

Tesla started brush clearing and grading the land for Gigafactory 1 in the summer of 2014, and as of date, the expansive battery factory is still less than 30% complete.

Interesting read. China’s rate of construction is fast because they don’t have to have as many permits to build either. The process in the U.S. is slow because it’s all about making sure everyone gets paid, and that process takes forever. On a side note, I checked out the new Tesla’s the other day... Hopefully I can afford a Tesla one day. Lol
