Totally agree on the point that 3 years is an eternity in computer technology. Bought a i5 6400 in October which costed ~165 €. What do you get for 165€ now? An Ryzen 5 1400. Isnt that just crazy? Hyperthreading an a higher clocking speed (~2.7 on the i5 and at least 3.7 on the Ryzen).
I also agree that RAM prices are still hilarious (almost like the GPU market right now LMAO). I guess its the best for you if you just save up some money as long as you can stand the suffering from your PC :)
Sad part is if you went with Ryzen 5 1400, you're looking a new motherboard and ram too! I think I can buy myself 3 years with the AMD Athlon X4 880k and DDR3 2400 MHz RAM. Might throw in an SSD boot drive to make me feel better.
