Artificial intelligence has no mission, and tasks are set for it to automate processes and reduce resources, be it time, money, or people.
As an example, data mining, where artificial intelligence optimizes purchases, supply chains and other business processes. Alternatively, computer vision, where with the help of artificial intelligence technology video analytics is carried out and a description of the video content is created. To solve the problems of speech technology, artificial intelligence recognizes, analyzes and synthesizes oral speech, making another small step towards teaching a computer to understand a person.
Understanding a person with a computer is considered to be the very mission, the fulfillment of which will bring us closer to creating a strong intellect, since the machine will not only need a great knowledge of the world to recognize the natural language, but also constant interaction with it. Therefore, the "believers" in a strong artificial intelligence attribute the understanding of the human machine to the most important task of artificial intelligence.
In the philosophy of artificial intelligence, there is even a hypothesis that there is a weak and strong artificial intelligence. In it, a computer capable to think and be aware of itself will be considered a strong intellect. The theory of weak intelligence rejects this possibility.
To a strong intellect, there are indeed many requirements, some of which have already been fulfilled. For example, training and decision-making. However, will a MacBook ever be able to meet such requirements as empathy and wisdom is a big question.
I would like to believe, but it is hardly possible that in the future there will be robots that can not only imitate human behavior, but also sympathetically nod while listening to yet another dissatisfaction with the injustice of human existence.
While people are afraid of something that is stronger than they are - the future of artificial intelligence is very sad. In addition, the upgrade of old ideas will be the only artificial intelligence we deserve.
