1.OxygenOS 4.7.2 improves fingerprint and face unlock on OnePlus 5T
2.The new update also fixes Wi-Fi WPA2 KRACK vulnerability
3.A new software is said to be in works to improve dual-camera performance
Days after its formal launch, OnePlus 5T has received OxygenOS 4.7.2 as its first major software update. The new over-the-air (OTA) update optimises fingerprint and Face Unlock features and includes some other improvements as well as performance enhancements. OnePlus is also reportedly considering the early user feedback to improve the dual camera setup of the new flagship.
The OxygenOS 4.7.2 update for OnePlus 5T is based on Android Nougat and is sized at 107MB. As per the official changelog reported on OnePlus forums, the OxygenOS update has certain optimisations for fingerprint unlock and face unlock. There is also an improved accuracy for screen off gestures to uplift the experience.
To fulfill the lack of OIS (optical image stabilisation) to some extent, the OxygenOS 4.7.2 update improves EIS (electronics image stabilisation) while recording 4K videos. The update also patches the infamous Wi-Fi WPA2 KRACK vulnerability. Earlier this month, OnePlus released the OxygenOS 4.5.14 update for the OnePlus 5 with a similar WPA2 KRACK patch.
Besides, the latest OxygenOS 4.7.2 update has general stability improvements and bug fixes. The update is already rolling out publicly. However, it may take some time to reach your OnePlus 5T.
You can check the availability of the OxygenOS 4.7.2 update on your OnePlus 5T by going to Settings > System updates. It is advisable to back up data before beginning the update process.
In addition to the fresh OxygenOS update, OnePlus is said to be in plans to release a new software version to enhance the dual camera setup on the OnePlus 5T. TrustedReviews reports that a OnePlus spokesperson confirmed the development in a statement. "We have seen some of the reviews that mention our OnePlus 5T camera could be performing better and offering a few areas of improvement," the spokesperson stated.
The upcoming update is reported to bring improvements to low-light photography and selfie shots on the OnePlus 5T, in addition to making the beautification mode optional.
If you're not satisfied with the original photography experience on the OnePlus 5T - despite its 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel camera sensors with f/1.7 aperture lenses, you can anticipate the upcoming tweaks. In the meantime, you can look forward to an improved experience using the latest OxygenOS update.
