Other alternatives for a Mac laptop would be the Dell Xps 15 and the Idea Pad series of Lenovo. But if you don't care about price than the Surface Book of Windows is a good choice for editors in general. Personally XPS 15 is the laptop that I want to buy because of its Infinity Display.

I would argue that the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 would be a better alternative than the Idea Pad series, but yeah it great to have so many great choices.
Oh, absolutely, the new X1 is stunning. I'd spring for the X1 Yoga with OLED touch display though - might just be the best portable computer on the market!
I agree, XPS 15 is a great choice.
