Flowers after Fire

The fynbos vegetation of the western Cape of South Africa has a fire-driven ecology. This means that the plants have adapted to dealing with fire and many species of plants flower more abundantly after fire and some ONLY flower after fire.

Here are some pictures I took of a spectacular flowering of pink Watsonia borbonica in the Roodeberg area of the Table Mountain National Park which are flowering abundantly right now, following a fire in the area in January.
