Recently I spent a few days in the Breede River Valley of the Western Cape of South Africa and walked in some of the mountains of the region.
I was thrilled to discover this beautiful flower which is Ixia mostertii. It doesn't have a common name because it is so rare.
A very special gem indeed. It is known from only three localities and probably less than 1000 actual plants remain.
Why are they so few left? Are they being preserved? They are so beautiful.
Beautiful flower
Yes, it is quite beautiful isn't it.
Oh wow. That is awesome :):)
Thanks, yes it is pretty special.
I have upvoted and resteemed your post. Please do the same to me.
Will this flower still be there next season?
