Thought I share a few thoughts and methods on ‘Position’ and Direction for the KG1's (age 4) which is initially about position of things in relation to other things.
This assist them to develop it into concepts of direction and movement. It is important to start very simple with easy illustrations and exercises, to ensure the student fully understand the concept before moving on with more difficult exercises.
First activity is to teach them the basics Left, Right
In addition you can also add colors to teach them for example Red is right and Yellow is left.
Then we can add the more advanced positions and directions
It also helps if you let them do it physically, take a small kids chair and let them do the positions this way they will learn it quicker and remember it faster, and the main thing is to make it FUN
