Mountain Durmitor is situated in northern Montenegro near the Serbian border. The closest town is so-called Zabljak, and you can get there within three hours drive from the Montenegrian coast.
Durmitor is a national park since 1952, and it was incorporated in UNESCO world heritage list in 1980.
The highest peak is Bobotov Kuk 2.523 meters above sea level, and Durmitor has 20 more peaks above 2.000 meters.
The special beauty of this magnificent mountain represents its numerous lakes, that are cold as ice, translucent as tears and mystical beyond imaginable.
A few years ago, my good friend and I have been there. It was a great experience and my closest contact to real and stunning nature above the clouds. We were there a week-long, equipped with camping and trekking gear.
The first night we camped at Crno jezero (biggest lake) and after we have walked to higher elevations.
Our tent wasn't so good, so we improvised additional rain protection, and also we lay some grass beneath the tent to get extra comfortable sleeping matt.
After proper rest, we pushed our selves to the limits and climb up to 1.000 meters of altitude in 3 hours with backpacks, weighing more than 15 kilograms.
Luckily we made it, and find shepherd cabins where we set our base camp.
For few days being up there, we live very healthily: breathing the purest air imaginable, drinking divine water, and eating sheep cheese from that terrain.
We make it to the highest peak, and it was an extraordinary experience.
This mountaineering adventure was really great thing, and memory for whole life.
We also shoot a small video, and maybe you will see from a better perspective. But it is always the best to experience everything from first place and to have your own memories and feelings about traveling and living your life.
