Being a "kid" who are excited over nothing but challenges, especially something that challenges you physically while creating history that not everyone has the courage to. Well, now I have an interesting story to share about what I did. Do you? Hehe..
About a month ago, my friend and I has made the craziest decision ever, and the best part is we actualized it, we made it happen! We cycled 70km from Subang Jaya to Kuala Selangor, and the day after, another 70km back. What's more amazing is, neither of us are seasoned cyclist.
Some may think that we are insane, stupid. But what I know is, we are legend. Hahaha.. It started off in one morning....
So here we are having our enjoyable breakfast and being excited about it.. before shit happens...
And then shit happens, one of our tyre is punctured...
Suddenly both of us became as if a professional "bike-man" dismantling everything and not knowing how to put them back together hahaha... took us quite a while under the sun to get it back. In the end, we still can't do it,I mean we put the parts back together, but the tyre is still flat. Why? because we gotten the inner tube of the wrong size. Haha
But we are lucky that there is a bike-shop nearby, but we have to wait til 11am before it opens, which means when we actually start cycling off, it is 12 noon, where sun is directly above us. We are sizzled.
And here we go...
FINALLY!!
You can never imagine the pain we went through if you didn't ever put on butt on the saddle for 5 damn hours, under the sun.. That BUTT, #cyclistswillknow. Hahahah
We are literally dead and we lied straight on the floor once we stepped into our room. Look what the sun did to us. Hahaha
Now I'll just share some of the places we went to..
Alright, guess that's all for now. I'll stop here with a few tips for beginner in roadcycling, especially if u are going for long distance:
- Make sure you get the right size of innertube.
- Make sure you buy the tool to change your tyre.
- Make sure you plan your route, one wrong turn, you will regret even if it is just 1km, trust me. Haha
- Drink plenty of water (at least every 30 minutes), don't carry plenty, BUY along the way, and carbohydrate snacks too.
- Rest, don't cycle until cramp only you stop, that will be too late.
- Please don't plan a cycling trip that will have you under the sun for hours. Hahaha
That's a great article @sutcalvin !
I love the pics and appreciate the effort you put into your post.
I used to make quite a good living from racing road bikes, I used to do 600-800 km a week training and sometimes race for up to 200 km on weekends.
I'll upvote your post when my steem power comes back up.
Hahaha.. thank you so much. You must be some elite cyclist.
Not so elite these days @sutcalvin that was years ago.
Your tan lines are crazy!
Ikr.. it never goes away
