Hello, my dear steemit friends, are you still in the cny mood?
It has been a while since I posted about Hokkaido trip, and today I will resume my post with my trip to Hakodate Morning Market.
Steemit
The Hakodate Morning Market also known as the Hakodate Asaichi, it is usually open from 5am till 12pm (from 6am during winter);just a few steps away from JR Hakodate Station. The market area spans about four city blocks.
Here, there was every type of seafood that Hokkaido is known for – crab (kani), sea urchin (uni), salmon roe (ikura) – and the famous Yubari King melon, which costs around 300 yen (~RM12) per slice. Costly, yes, but its incredible sweetness makes it well worth the cash. Many restaurants can be found in the market area, offering fresh seafood breakfasts, such as uni-ikura domburi.
One of the famous seafood restaurant in Hakodate Morning Market - Syokudo & Teishoku Restaurant
We haved a fresh sea urchin, baked scallop and baked abalone for our breakfast.
Bellies filled, we continue our next stop to the main attraction here - Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, really a series of warehouses which has been around since 1887 and lighted up European style buildings near to the sea, can feel the sea breeze and even smell the sea while walking around these places. The reason why there are so many half-Western, half-Japanese buildings in this area is because the harbor of Hakodate was one of the first to be opened to foreign trade way back in 1854, resulting in an influx of foreigners into the region.
The area was also very touristy. It had a large parking lot filled with big busses for tourists. It also had gift shops the size of a few warehouses combined… Crazy!
A lot of renovated brick warehouses and multi-level wooden decks all over the wharf. We were unlucky that the weather was bad when we got there - heavy rain and cool winds .

Hi, @michelleast, I really have a wonderful trip!
Btw, the texture of uni is smooth like custard and wet, and with briny taste
