I would say it depends on how knowledgeable that person to know the manual settings and how handy can the camera be.

DSLR is indeed awesome, but the only thing I knew is to use the AUTO function, which beats the purpose of it. So, for me, using SLR for blogs photos, and phones for normal outings which doesn't require much. Or a HUAWEI P20 would be the best option HAHA :)
