Never Assume

Just like to share this heartbreaking news i saw in Facebook this morning..So very sad! This could have been handled differently, kindly...why did the teacher had to slap her in the back in front of all her friends when there was no proof whatsoever? Teachers are supposed to be inspiring, KIND, WISE and MATURED...even if she did steal it, they did not have to subject her to such a degree of humiliation. She is only 13!

GEORGE TOWN: A Form 2 child who has been suspended after being accused of stealing her teacher's handphone last week is now brain-dead and given a life support system, an activist said today.

President of Malaysia's Tamilar Kular, David Marshel Pakianathan said M Vasanthapirya, 13, suffered from organ failure and was undergoing intensive treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital.

"The doctor told me the kidneys and her liver had failed," said David, a member of the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) who helped the Vasanthapiriya family, to FMT.

"We pray for a miracle, beg her safe and tell us what she's going through," he said.

It is learned that the police and education departments are investigating the matter.

Based on a police report lodged by a family member at the Prai Police Station, Vasanthapiriya, a student at SMK Methodist in Nibong Tebal, was called for questioning by 3 teachers at 2.00pm on Wednesday.

One of them, a 40-year-old woman, accused her of stealing her iPhone 6's mobile phone, the report said.

After the teenager denied stealing the cellphone, another teacher allegedly hit her back in front of other students.

The teenager was later charged with being locked up in a room at the teacher's office quarter for 5 hours, without food or allowed to the toilet.

At 6.45 pm, the husband of the missing teacher of the mobile phone arrived at the school. The couple threatened to take her to the police if she did not claim to steal, according to the report.

They then brought Vasanthapiriya to her nearby house to meet her parents. The teenager then ran into her room, while her parents and her accusers went out to settle the matter, according to the report.

That's when Vasanthapiriya tried to commit suicide. On arrival at 8.20pm, her father broke the door when Vasanthapiriya did not respond.

she was found unconscious but still alive, depending on the union attached to the air-conditioning pipes, and her feet were touched on the floor.

Her parents were surprised to find a suicide note written on paper from her school's training book.

"Teacher (name is kept secret) I do not take teacher's handphone," wrote Vasanthapiriya in Tamil, with goodbyes to parents and grandmothers.

Her parents brought her to Sungai Bakap Hospital for treatment, and she was later transferred to Seberang Jaya Hospital.

Collect RM70 for teacher's birthday

Meanwhile, a close friend of Vasanthapiriya claimed the accuser might suspect Vasanthapiriya after seeing CCTV footage featuring a long-haired woman like at the teacher's office.

The friend said the teacher was increasingly skeptical when the teenager went to the office to put the training book on his desk

"She gathered our training book and she volunteered to put it on the teacher's desk. So I guess that's why the teacher suspects Vasanthapiriya.

"What's surprising is that after all, the teacher seems to have an iPhone again. We're not sure whether she has met the phone or bought a new phone, "said his friend who told him to be kept secret.

Her friend also said that 2 days before the incident, Vasanthapiriya collected RM70 from his friends to hold a birthday celebration for her accuser.

"Her father was a good cook. So she gave her money to her parents to cook the dishes and bring them to school to eat and celebrate birthday at school, "he said.

FMT contacted Penang Police Chief A Thaiveegan and waited for his response.

Waina, sa baca pun sa sakit hati. Even if she stole the phone which she's NOT, a person (in this case, a teacher) should not hit their students and humiliated them in front of others. The accuser should make a police report and let the police do the investigation. &%*& macam sa mo maki pun ada 😡😡

yaaa baa..sakitt atii baca pa lg her parents kan? haish..so sad sud hv been handled differently.. let the police handle ba why hv to interrogate her and locked her in the room for 5 hours without food/drink! 😡😡😡😡
