bali memories

in #teammalaysia7 years ago (edited)

While i was sorting @viverridae laptop today to change the operating system from window to ubuntu , i found several photos from our trip. It brought me back to memory lane.

I love getaways, and one of the place i enjoy the most is bali. i know , i know .. to some travellers it does sound as if i never been elsewhere, i been to lots of places in my lifetime , but i just cant help it , that bali has that things going on in regards to arts, cultures and just the way you feel , just bring lots of good vibe. OK , i got to admit, in addition , bali was our first honeymoon trip. so perhaps, emotionally there is some attachment. LOL .

I enjoy the choices of cuisines and local delicacies, but most of all, it the joy i have whenever me and @viverridae would rent a bike and we just cruises our way around.

I recall we were event stop once and had to bribe the officer . LOL Nevertheless, it just part of th adventure.

You know people say that if its a plan trip. it will be boring, so that the reason why i consider all our trips to be adventurous as we look at it as a journey , just go with the flow.

Let me tell you a story that really stick on my head all this years, this was told my a local resident as i was curious on why bali people whom are hindus eat pork .

The story goes that in the old day, the hindu king call upon all of his people to move out to bali island as they were driven out as islamisation began in indonesia.

As they began rebuild their kingdom in bali, the king then came up with a plan as he was trying to figure our how to keep the muslim out from the island , then he decided , for the sake of survival of their religion , he order that the followers to
rear pigs and eat them.

This was something that is considered an extreme decision however for the sake of survival and loyalty to the their leader, the follow through with the decision , hence the reason why the hindus eat pork until today.

I am not sure how valid is the story, but it got it in my head thinking it was quite a strategy and decision in times of desperation.

Anyway, today grown to be an island that banking on tourism , and tourist love the island and her people. While i was there , i was also told that one of balinese concern is the migration of non balinese/ indonesian that moves in to bali and taking opportunity out of their generation.

Anyway, If you happen to think of a place to visit anytime soon, consider bali.

Me and @vivierridae wanted to go back to bali for our 10th wedding anniversary last february , however toward end of 2017 before we decided on taiwan , there was issue with volcano eruption hence thinking best that we get out of the way.

The night when we were waiting for our flight back to kota kinabalu from taiwan , there was earthquake . We were lucky to escape them. It like trying out from the lion mouth, and almost get caught by the crocodile.

The reason why, you can only go so far with planning. the best thing our travelling is just to go with the flow, whatever the experiences it just part of the adventures.

Good luck with you journey and YES, i will visit bali again someday.
