Blurt is a fork and airdrop based on a snapshot of the Steem Delegated-Proof-of Stake (DPOS) Graphene blockchain, at block height 43,569,969, on the 20th of May 2020 and then officially launched on the 4th of July 2020 as a neutral fork of Steem, signalling independence from the blockchain wars that existed between the Steem and Hive (community fork) blockchain communities at the time.

Blurt provides a safe environment for blockchain communities by eliminating the Downvote Predicament that plagues mainstream social media sites like Reddit as well as other DPOS social blockchains. The deprecation of downvotes on Blurt mitigates the issue of censorship and pre-censorship of minority and unpopular opinions, giving an equal voice to all.

Furthermore, Blurt is the first Graphene blockchain to introduce a fee system set by witnesses (validators/block producers), to ensure that consensus hardware requirements will remain lean as the platform grows and not become an unsustainable data dump repository.

Through continuous improvement and providing solutions to existing short-comings, Blurt is creating a global blockchain social media platform with native reward incentives and features that could disrupt this billion dollar industry.[ds]
