I rarely get too much time in the day for myself these days, I'm generally working, sleeping or hanging out with the kids, so today I had a special treat. The kids are in daycare and I should be sleeping since I work a night shift tonight, but instead I snuck away to my happy place.
A place with sunshine and rainbows...right!
You may think it's hiding down in some secret vault doing the 'ol Scrouge Mcduck into piles of silver, yeah that's alot of fun, but not truly my happy place.
It's not going to some spa or some relaxing beach scene.

For me, my happy place, is man and machine against(or with) nature
Like how happy does that guy look! I love spending a day outside doing some meaningful physical labour. I am so in the zone (or a flow state) I could just go forever. I never take breaks and never consume enough water for this. Today I have to pull myself away after 2 hrs, but I could have spent all day there. In fact before I even had kids and other things to do, I did spend sun up to sun down outside most days.
And the weather today was perfect, around -10 to -15 degrees.
Crazy Canadian right, but it's perfect, you bundle up just right and you can go forever without getting to hot. I hate being hot! You wanna see me loose my shit, make me do anything on a hot day, I get so moody and upset, it's the worst. No the mention at this temperature most sticks and wood with break like toothpicks, and they are not all green and rubbery, and it's the only time the whole yard is perfectly accessible like this. This area is swampy but in the winter it's firm and easy to work on.
I'll tell you more about my master plans for my yard one day and really show it all off, but I have 70 acres here and I'm slowly clearing land, harvesting wood, and making some trails so the property is usable and accessible.

I can relate to relaxing and zoning out outdoors around work and kid time. But i just have a regular yard - not 70 acres! Congrats- that wonderful work!!
My man! I didn't realize you had 70 acres up where you are! I need to come up and visit you!! I love being outside, but I am not sure I can deal with those frigid temperatures! If my mother read this, she would be insisting you to drink enough water!

Yep. You're right. That's Crazy Canadian - around -10 to -15 degrees. It was 7 degrees here and you should have heard me moaning about the cold when out for a walk this afternoon.
So glad you got to be in your happy place for a couple of hours though. We all need that.

Wow that's my happy place too!!! Can so relate to this post. Currently we have been having 30°c + days, humidity up over the 80's...cannot wait for Winter. So good you are getting to work on your own land, you did a great job too
Love It! I'm needing to do the same with my property. I also have an area which I need to hit up before the spring makes it swampy again. I can spend all day out in the woods doing just whatever. It doesn't get any better than that! What area of Canada are you from? I've been to a few places up there and it's always beautiful.
