Got a Job Interview Tomorrow! Need some advice from the natural medicine gurus and weed experts!

in #teamcanada7 years ago (edited)

I'm interviewing tomorrow for a position at a new cannabis clinic here in town. It's all the rage recently in Canada.

Source Not actually this one but similar.

There will be a new one opening soon in town and they are looking for Nurse Practitioners to assess the patients and prescribe treatments. I don't know a whole lot a about the different treatment options or medical uses of Cannabis. So it's time to hit the books.

I plan to do a bit of cramming in the next 24hrs to prepare. This was always my best study tactic in school as well. All the newly acquired info should stay in the forefront of my mind to ace the interview.

I am hoping for some recommendations for high quality sources to read and investigate. I know there's a huge marijuana sub-culture here on steemit, and well as a large audience that supports natural medicine.

I do feel that these new clinics are starting to increase access to medical marijuana for people that need it. Since most providers aren't comfortable prescribing it, it can be hard for patients that really need it to get access to it. Not every prescriber agrees with it's medical use, although to me it seams much safer with much less abuse potential that so many options we are currently prescribing.

I do personally think it's a good treatment option for lots of patients and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to work a bit on the outside of the traditional medicine system and big pharma.

So wish my luck on the interview tomorrow.

Hey Phil! Here’s everything you need to know. Only problem is it’ll take you more than overnight to cram it all in! It’s over 500 pages and it has many other links 😁. Good luck with the interview! And seeing how you posted this yesterday..I’m figuring I’m late to get this to you. Just saw your post! Lol. Sorry. Hope the interview went well.

Thanks man, Looks like some great info, I'll have to take some time and really take a good look if they end up hiring me.

You bet. Hey did you get 777 yet? Just curious.

Yeah, I finally went to the post office yesterday got it Safe and Sound.

Well I can talk about how it has helped my dog. My dog Nuke was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years ago but has been having seizures for about 5 years now. When I came back to California I was watching a show about how people were giving their children CBD oil to help them with seizures and it was working wonders. I figured I would be like the first one to try it for my dog and when I went to search it up boy was I wrong! They even have a product called VetCBD. I have had him on it now for about 2 years and it really has worked wonders, he has had a couple siezures here and there but as of today he is about 8 months without any. And when he did have the occasional seizure it was light and not as bad as they used to be. The CBD product doesn't get him high either, it's a 20:1 ratio CBD to THC. This particular product is made from the flower buds and not industrial hemp, so it's a better product than most you can buy off the shelf. Besides seizures, the oil can also help animals with anxiety, pain relief, arthritis, nausea, and inflammation. Hope this helps you out!

thats awsome bro id love to get high with my dawg

That's pretty cool man, I'll have to remember that if we even get dogs in...lol.

I found this link for Canadian Nursing hope it helps

We need more medical 420 nursing

I hope you get the job....Good Luck

Thanks looks like another great resource, really appreciate it.

Best of luck to you @phelimint !! Im sure you will get the job , just stay confident and positive !! 👍👍👍✌😀

be careful, many dispensaries don't have all their ducks in a row and often get busted and shutdown over the grey areas. As far as resources I can only offer my personal experience. I have anaphilaxis, it was weird at first with unlikely symptoms and went misdiagnosed until i was 27.It left a lot of internal damage to my digestive system including frequent nausea, vomiting ... to the point where i had trouble holding food or even water at times. Since I started to use the green for it, it keeps things in order enough especially after a reaction(obviously i seek proper medical treatment first so i don't die). Since I hold a safety sensitive position I have to be clean for duty and have to quit regularly for a few weeks or months and I have to deal the symptoms until I am finished my contract and able to smoke again ,then it goes away. Also good for insomnia an anxiety. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks, that's an interested use, I can't say I even knew of that one.

Well as a long time user, less as of late but I know my shit, if you're leaving a good job for this one I'd caution against it. These clinics are often run by people looking to cash in on a fad and have little business acumen, some are sketchy individuals aswell. How in demand are these dispensaries and clinics going to be when next year everyone will be able to buy their own cannabis on every corner in Canada without a prescription? There's also Canadian websites you can talk with a medical professional and have cannabis mailed right to your door now. Here in NS we will be able to buy it at liquor stores. I hope eventually the stigma will come off of the industry with awareness but if you're looking for a different job in the future ppl may look down on the fact you worked for one. Hope not but those are my thoughts..one thing tho.. it would be a mellow workplace 😎

Thanks man, It would just be aside job, I'd be keeping my other one for sure, maybe do them both part time. I like variation.

Hope the craming of info goes well, lots of research on the subject available on the internet. Let us know how the interview goes in a follow up in this post. I also have many contacts in the cannabis industry, even with some of the LPs, they may be looking for someone with your skills. It's an exciting time to be working in the Cannabis industry, wish you all the best.

Thanks man, it seamed to go well, we'll just wait and see.

Could you kindly please not refer to it as "drug dealing" it gives Cannabis a negative connotation and we need people to get on bored with the positive aspects of the plant in order for it to succeed as an industry. Please and thank you kindly and respectively. Good luck to you!

Edited, I was only intended to be eye catching, but from the content hopefully you see I am fully supportive of the medical uses of Cannabis.

Thanks, and yes, I can see that you're a fellow supporter of the esoteric healing plant! I will be following you, look forward to watching your journey through the Canadian perspective. I'm currently in Colorado myself. See ya around Steem!

Cannabis is a good field. Best of luck, phelimint !

Good luck! Just be yourself and be honest about what you want to accomplish in the new role!

Secret hippie dream job. I heard it's hard to move to Canada though lol.

Good luck on the interview tomorrow! Sounds like a really interesting job!

I really hope that the interview goes great or went great. I think this is wonderful place for you to be working.
