Meet sweet Coco the grey headed flying fox.
Coco was found laying on the ground no mother anywhere to be found. The poor little girl has a few lumps on her face where a bird was pecking at her.
Coco is drinking baby formula milk bottles 5 times a day and will be for the next few months until she is ready to eat fruit and be taken into batty pre school to learn to fly with other orphans they will then be all released back into the wild together on a full moon when the local colony flies over. Until then she will be here with us snuggled up on her mummy roll
These amazing creatures are so intelligent and so important to our eco system. They live in large colonies together with up to 7 thousand in a group. They feed on native fruits and nectar and now days like to raid people's fruit trees and often get caught in nets. With loss of habitat due to ever expanding civilisation on humans they have not many places left to go.
I encourage everyone to learn some more about bats as they are so irrationally feared by humans who are the biggest threat to their survival. Without bats there would be no forests and more importantly no tequila 😂
Stay safe fellow Steemers
Until next time
Peace love and happiness to all xo
