Memoirs of a science teacher

in #teaching7 years ago (edited)

I've never done anything like this before and this may be the first and last but if you do like it or even if you just want to offer me advice /pray for my soul let me know .

Arrived at work, i am one hour before my first class. As usual Im the last one here and as i walk past my head of departments door i notice her look at the clock and shake her head. I can't help but feel guilty even though i won't see a child for at least forty five minutes.

I spend the next half an hour rushing around putting together the powerpoints I'll be using today . Normally they would be done already but it was my daughters birthday on Sunday so that took over my weekend . By weekend i mean that from leaving work on Friday it has been a none stop makeup/sleepover/giggling about bloody nothing fest.

It was a water park on Friday with six girls all of which think they can dance and one of which who couldn't swim. Such fun.

Saturday, bowling ..i came third..not bad you may think but i was against an almost eleven year old, and a six year old. But in my defence i didn't use the bumpers. To add insult to injury when i looked at the lane next to ours there was what i assume could only be a trip from a care home and as i watched a gentleman who appeared to have parkinsons be helped to carry and walk with his ball then roll a strike whilst i didnt get a single one the whole game .

Anyhoo, my first and hopefully not last entry . Let me know what you think . Mr c.

We do birthday weekends at our house too. My wife gets a whole week, actually.

Keep us posted on your adventures teaching.

Thanks for the encouragement.. Its the cheapest therapy available and I do enjoy it.. Please check out other instalments.. I'll be doing them regularly.. Time permitting.

I didn't even know birthday weekends were a thing until recently... And I will secondly not be telling my wife about the whole week setup you have. Much simpler when I was younger.. A card, a cake and ten pounds. Happy days

It really is!

haha, we thought we were the only ones who did multi-day birthday celebrations too :)
