Teacher's Deliberation - Final Decision To Learners With Low Academic Performamce

in #teachers-deliberation7 years ago (edited)

It's less than a month before the end of the school year. Just waiting for the final examination yet at this time, teachers advancely gather to finally decide with the problematic students whether they still have the chance for promotion. This time will come in the teacher's heart considering behavior and some personal and family problems.

This is the time where we bring all the documents to prove the standing of every identified students like the consolidated grades since the first quarter, attendance, remedial activities including anecdotal records and the parents' response everytime they are called by the adviser or subject teachers with the performance of their sons or daughters.

Teacher's deliberation is considered crucial because the decision is part of every student's future. That is why as an adviser, there are times you have to beg the subject teachers who gave failing grades knowing students' personal and family problems which an adviser becomes a confider.

Yes, plenty of them have the problems in their behavior but counting those who have personal problems. I have a student who can't do the cleaning task at the end of the day because he hurriedly went home to drive a pedicab until 12 midnight to earn a living with his sick mother. He is intelligent, only he can't submit some of the requirements maybe because he don't have enough time especially those that need money to spend. A lot of similar cases to mention, enough for my heart to be crumpled being the student's second parent.

Before I decide to say No, I can always remember a student whom I met after a year in a gas station working as a pump boy. According to him, he worked after receiving a failing grade from his Science teacher in Grade 9. I pity him that at his young age he landed on a low-paid job, supposedly at this stage,he has to enjoy the right to education.
