Introduction
A teacher is someone who devotes their life to education. There are few things in the world that are as rewarding as shaping the minds of the youth, helping them discover them as they learn more about the world. Today, we have with ourselves, Mr. Matthew Davies who will be further enlightening us on the topic.
In His Own Words
Education is the backbone of society, if not, humanity. It is the thirst for education and knowledge that has led us to the current state of human evolution. Without knowledge, we would still be living in caves and Facebook wouldn’t have existed.
For better or for worse, knowledge is the reason we humans have a purpose to exist. It is knowledge that created us, knowledge that connects us, knowledge that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us; knowledge defines us, and it also binds us.
The necessity of education can never be measured. It is inherent in our system; we are geared to learn. All of the greatest minds in history were driven by an insatiable thirst for wisdom. To become a preacher for such a noble ideal is one of the highest achievements a man can achieve.
The world is filled with knowledge, some helpful, some not so and some outright destructive. It is the duty of the teacher to understand the world, comprehend its working and explain it to the millions of young and old minds dwelling in this world.
The quality of education is always up for debate. What was once a mission to educate has now become a socio-economic and political mechanism. It is used as a mechanism of control. The world requires good teachers to lead humanity into a bright future.
A teacher’s responsibility is:
**1. To enhance the Quality of Education **- Everyone one of us has come across that one teacher who always skipped the lessons or failed to teach a subject because they themselves lacked the proper knowledge.
Nowadays, the number of teachers with similar skill is on the rise. Teachers were supposed to teach, and not JUST prepare you for upcoming exams. Mugging up books and vomiting them in your tests is not learning.
The quality of education has plummeted thanks to practices like these and needs to be kept in check. As a teacher, your first and foremost goal should be to improve and expand the quality of education to the best of your abilities.
**2. Impacting the Lives of the Students **- If you haven’t watched Dead Poets Society, I suggest you do it right now. The impact of a good teacher extends far beyond the boundaries of a classroom. To the student, a teacher is the epitome of an educated man, a friend, a mentor and confidant.
The things you teach can go on to shape the very future of your students. The knowledge you impart has the potential to become something more than just mere words and explanations. Your words greatly impact young minds and can change their lives forever.
Conclusions
That’s all for today folks. I hope you enjoyed this token of information from Mr. Matthew Davies and I wish you good fortune on your path to becoming the instrument of knowledge itself.
