i think if the u.s. wanted to win the vietnam war, they could have. i hear there were many restrictions placed on the military from the slugs in DC. the war (that is the invasion and occupation) was not meant to be won. but yes the Vietnamese people saw the atrocities, the napalm, agent orange, etc and it made them determined to fight back however they could.
