STEEM Food Tours #62 : Om Sweets Restaurent - Gurgaon,India

in #tasteem6 years ago

This morning I visited OM SWEETS,one of the famous restaurants of my city - Gurugram(India) to eat some fancy food as breakfast for a change of taste. Its quite a place to visit for multiple cuisines including North-Indian and South-Indian food. The prices are genuine and food quality is supreme.

The restaurant outlook

The place is three floored - The second and third floor has a sitting space where they serve to eat. On the first floor, they display their baked cakes, popular Indian sweets and gift packs. The whole place is air conditioned, neat and well maintained. The staff is adequate so you never feel like the services are slow, neither the staff is rude nor they stare.

The sitting space

They offer both the wooden-piped chairs and the comfy couches to sit. You can see the chairs in the open spaces and the couches attached to the wall.

The Food

Food is amazing and I can vouch for the food they are offering. Genuine food at affordable fair prices. They have chinese cuisine, North-Indian, South-Indian and all the major Indian snacks.

Dish 1 - Bhalla Papri

The dish you see in picture below is called Bhalla papri and is a very famous north Indian snack. It consists of some bhalla which are soft white balls and some papris which are crispy fried wafers made of dough. Both the components are dipped in curd, sauces and spices. The whole combination will make you go WOW in your mouth. I ordered the dish for 80 INR ~ 1.2$.

Dish 2 - South Indian Platter

The second dish you see in picture below is south Indian platter which consists of some major South-Indian food items.

See in the picture below, you see four items -

From the left, the long shaped folded crepe is called DOSA. It is filled with a filling of meshed potatoes with some other vegetables like tomatoes, onions and peas.
The second white round thing is called IDLI, it is made of rice flour and is very soft and has no particular taste of its own.
The third item which you see is a big round thing which sliced vegetables in it is called UTTPAM - it is a tortilla base on which vegetables are cooked with oil, the base and the vegetable becomes one at the end of cooking process. It is delicious.
The fourth item that you see in top right corner is VADDA, it is a fried slaty donut kind of thing which can be dipped in sauces and sanbhar to increase it taste.

In below picture, you see the liquid that was offered with the south indian platter.

This liquid is none other than the SAMBHAR, it is the best and compulsory combination with South Indian cuisin, so all the four major components - IDLI, VADAA, UTTPAM, DOSA are eaten with Sambhar.

In below picture, the white sauce you see is COCONUT CHUTNEY. This is a sauce that is made using fresh coconut extract and is famously served with south Indian cuisine.

I got the whole platter for 220 INR ~ 3$

What else is the restaurant offering?

Let's see their ground floor where they are offering sweets. We can take any sweets we like - 1,2,3,4... as many pieces we want to eat and can eat on the ground floor itself. They offer cake too, in case someone wants to eat cake. Prices are fine enough that before walking out, everyone eats a piece or two by getting attracted to their pretty representation.

Overall

Overall its a great restaurent. If some friends or guests are coming then this is the place I will take them out to. Fresh tasty food with all options for Indian cuisine. The clear cut genuine prices will make you want there go more often.
