Dry Noodle with Wantan and Barbeque Pork
Often good food are either over or under publicized. Seldom in between. There are many delicious ones which has gone unreported. Only the neighborhood knows it. Queuing up is almost certain. Ordered at 10.13am and the food came at 10.45am. More than half an hour. Sometimes, yes, only once in a while this kind of waiting time is worth it.
Located in the suburb of Kuala Lumpur, this shop is definitely a frequent spot by many locals, especially for breakfast, brunch and lunch. The famous meal is of course the Dry Noodle with Wantan and Barbeque Pork. Origin of this meal is almost certain from Southern China. Hong Kong is famous of it too but in soup form. Over here, the yellow thin noodle is made dry with black soya sauce.
The barbequed pork is delicious. Berbequed with own recipe sauce, it tastes sweet, honey glazed. Some place use charcoal to barbeque the pork, many of course have turned to oven. Over here I wouldn't be able to differentiate either charcoal or oven. Maybe one day I will ask the owner, Ronnie. Barbeque pork was probably made famous in Hong Kong but I feel Malaysia ones are always more delicious.
Wantan is the small dumpling in the small bowl of soup. It is made of pork wrapped with flour. Wantan by right should consist prawn as well but many never add with prawn. For wantan, definitely Hong Kong is better. They mix prawn with pork.
Many like to eat this noodle with green chili. The chili is way less hot if compared to the small red chilies. This green chili is soaked with vinegar in which I suspect at least for more than one day. If you prefer sourish taste, this green chili will be a good option for you.
Dessert - Barley with Bean Curd
I ordered no drink but dessert. In Malaysia, ordering drink with food is almost certain, maybe due to the summer like weather. I ordered this dessert because it is watery anyway and it is well known to have cooling effect to your body. It is served hot and a little sweet, dessert right? The ingredient is of course barley boiled with slices of dried bean curd added with little bit of sugar.
