I prefer family run restaurants. Not only because of my own history, but family run restaurants have something special about them. You can literally feel and even taste the story. When you enter a restaurant likethe "Mum's Place" you dive into another world, the past and history becomes a part of yourself because you are in the middle of it.You start to feel how the past leads you to imagine who has been here before and who is still coming.
As soon as you sit down on your chair and start looking at all the pictures around you, you dive right into the story and at the end you are a part of it.
Belacan Yam Leaf
I think everybody's eaten a sweet potato before. But have you ever heard that the leaves are also delicious?
Stir-fried Yam Leaf (Sweet Potato Leaf) with Belacan (Shrimp Paste) is a Malaysian dish. Absolutely delicious.
Spicy Malaysian Chicken Curry
I'm used to a lot of spicy food, but this dish has knocked me over from the spiciness. Never before have I eaten such a spicy curry as this dish.
Fried "Choy Sum" with Egg.
Choy Sum is a cabbage plant. In this dish it is fried together with egg yolk and refined with a little soy sauce.This plant eats the crunchy leaves with the fleshy leaf stems as well as the young flower buds.
Absolutely delicious!
Fried Bean curd with Broccoli
and Oyster Sauce
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the dish. Bean Curd is a tofu variant.

Fried eggplant with garlic and coriander.

Ja, ich habe den Artikel genossen - das Essen und die "Umgebung" ja leider nicht. ;-) Mich erfreut immer wieder diese Farbigkeit des Essens, allein der Anblick macht schon gute Laune. Das mit den Süßkartoffelblättern ist mir neu. Ich bin gerade im Wildpflanzen"wahn" und die Blätter von Gemüse sind ähnlich unterbewertet. Aber ob die hier im Norden Deutschlands wachsen??? Und die Tofuvariante ist mir auch neu... wieder was gelernt. Danke und weiterhin guten Appetit! LG Kadna

Die vegetarischen Speisen würde ich auch essen. Das Lokal sieht gemütlich aus.
Zum Glück isst man dort mit Besteck. Mit Stäbchen würde ich während des Essens verhungern.

obwohl ich eher als ein Verehrer der japanischen Kochkunst gelte, da mir das klar Strukturierte im Umgang mit den Produkten sehr entgegenkommt, kann ich deine Begeisterung für die servierten Gerichte in "Mom's Place" sehr gut nachvollziehen, da es beim Verzehr auf die Vielfalt ankommt.
Das Problem mit den Blättern der Süßkartoffel versteckt sich leider in der Tatsache, dass jeder aufgebrachte Pflanzenschutz zuerst an die Blätter gelangt.
Daher führt meine Suche nach Pflanzenblättern immer nur in den eigenen Garten.

My goodness that all looks so delicious. I started eating the greens off of some of the vegetables that we normally would throw away. It is surprising how many are not only edible, but also delicious! I personally haven't tried yam leaves, but I hope to soon! And I love curries! So delish! But not so spicy that I can't taste anything else anymore. Haha. I love eggplant too. I see it here from time to time, I should buy some the next time I see it.
