Celebrating Life in Cana Cafe

Hi, Tasteemians. I'm so glad to come back with a review of a restaurant that I slowly fell in love with: Cana Cafe.

It is very far away from where I am staying. Perhaps one hour away, but that does not stop me from coming again and again.

The set up was a combination of silver steel chairs with orange tables. The counter was wooden color, the entrance and exit were see-through glass. It was - and still is comfortable for me because it was not too bright. It was dim enough for me and my companion to sit down and enjoy chatting. Like a pub... Daytime pub.

Today, my Beau and I went to have SET LUNCH! YEY, I loved having lunch there because everyday different!!!

SET A: Rice with Pineapple Chutney

With FISH CURRY! So yummy!!!

Pineapple chutney was cooked with spices and it was sweet! The gravy was sweet, sour plus a bit spicy. Very appetizing indeed.

The curry fish was cooked in perfection with caution of bones, of course. The curry was a bit spicy and the fish was fleshy and chewy, perfect flavourful partner with rice.

My Beau had the Set B: Rice with Pineapple Chutney

Served with Raisin Cooked with BEEF!!! Tha raisins were black and green raisins which popped in my mouth with sweet juice, then beef was nicely cooked, tender enough. Very enjoyable indeed.

Our two sets of lunch included also iced lemon tea and bread pudding. Each set lunch costed only RM10.90/set (USD3.00!!!)

However, I could not resist from buying the cute Cinnamon Roll topped with Cream Cheese!!! RM4.00 only!!!

- chocolate muffin. Rm4.00 each (USD1.20)

- carrot CAKE. (RM6.90 or USD1.80)

- exotic fruits (cempedak/jackfruit, durian, yam/taro, green teacupcake. Rm4.90 each or USD1.30.

- Eclair with custard and dessicated coconut. Rm12.90 or USD3.40

- signature salad. Very filling. RM10.90

- Hawaiian rice bun (RM6.90) and a scone. (RM3.90).

- We had this on a different day... Coconut Shake! RM11.90 each. The coconut taste was so strong and refreshing.

Our local music club had a Jazz Evening Concert there, and they served us coffee and tea, with cookies and cupcakes.

Now, the owner came from the same hometown as me. The east coast of Borneo called Sandakan. She is a very nice lady, below were photos of handmade products by the local autistic association. She always donate some of the profits to the NGOs like orphanage, old folks home and kids with special needs association.

I had many pictures and visited as much too. I LOVE COMING. This Cafe was featured 3 times in my food blog IN FB called Budget Food, Makanan Bajet Kota Kinabalu.

I hope you can go and try... I'm sure you will fall in love too. If you meet the owner, she will give you free dessert sometimes!
