I haven't really eaten this course before, and so, I decided to give it a try in DP (Don Pepe) in Budaörs today. This is a popular place for lunch menus, and they also have stand-alone courses prepared for those who want their food quickly.
The Spaghetti Casserole is known as Rakott teszta in Hungarian, and based on further research, it can really be anything. This is a mixture of spaghetti's of different sorts and form, mixed together with some filling, and often with cheese on the top. It is then fried in the oven, before it is served.
Here you can see a picture of my portion of Spaghetti Caserolle as it was served to me. It looked nice on the outside, and the taste was also nice. But, during my time of eating, I had a feeling that this is simply a mixture of all the leftover spaghettis from yesterday (different kinds), now mixed together, grilled in the oven, and now served as a completely new dish. IT might be a negative thing, or it might be positive considering how they use the ingredients instead of throwing them. Now, this is only a suspicion of mine, so I cannot say anything for sure, but seeing the stuffing of the spaghetti casserole, it felt as if was a mixture of several tastes.
However, the taste was still good, so I don't really feel like complaining about it no matter what.
They have much more food to choose from in the restaurant, and the price level is nice. My portion today costed me around 3,5 Euro, and it was enough for one portion. It isn't something I would return to the restaurant to eat, but as a one-time experience, I feel satisfied.
Here you can see a line of people waiting to buy their lunch in the Don Pepe restaurant. Considering the price level, this is a good place to get a quick Hungarian lunch. They also have giant pizza slices, meaning that those who just want something even easier to eat, will find it easily.
