Ace of Cups

The image shows water flowing from a golden cup into peaceful waters filled with lilies. Water is the element represented by the suit of cups in the tarot. It depicts the meeting of the spirit and the senses. The suit of cups symbolizes abundance, compassion and fertility.

Five streams pour out of the cup which symbolize the five natural senses. A white dove brings what looks like a 'host' or sacramental bread to the cup, symbolizing blessings from above. The messenger, holding the cup emerges from a cloud, also symbolizing a gift from the Divine. The sky is clear and the card, when picked upright is overwhelmingly positive. The card also is one that shows Divine protection.

On the cup is the letter W. W is the 23rd letter of the alphabet. In the Rider Waite Tarot as depicted here, the 23 is believed to refer to the 23rd Psalm of the King James Bible, Verse 5
'Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.'

You may feel today that your cup runneth over! Congratulations on this gift of a card.
