A Quick Observation About Arguing The Wrong Points on Foreign Policy

in #syria7 years ago

Eisenhower warned in his farewell address about the emergence of war profiteers dictating foreign policy for their own personal benefit...

Everyone always pisses and moans about perpetual warfare, but nobody ever seems to want to bring up why we continue to do it... The war powers act, and the pussy footing congress, abdicating themselves of their constitutional authority to authorize the use of military force... Nobody seems to want to address that the constitution grants that sole authority to congress, not the President, and a constitutional amendment was never ratified to absolve themselves of that authority.

Yet they continue to neglect their duty and nobody ever wants to address that them hiding behind the war powers act (the "authorization" of executive war powers) is an absolute act of cowardice and neglect of their duty. And the law itself, is in fact an illegal, unconstitutional, and unenforceable piece of legislation.

We can talk all day long about the "ethics" of war until we're blue in the face, but THAT'S the argument that should be made against the Presidential authorization of perpetual warfare on behalf of greedy, corporate interests.
