Switzerland is a beautiful country

First, let me introduce myself. I am teacher Nikola and I work for an online English school for the last 2 years s. I am actually a teacher of English and German language, and I have many students with whom I spend great time talking about travels abroad.

My passion is travelling. And when I travel I usually take a lot of photos which I share with others. This time I decided to write a blog about my travel to Switzerland.

It is needless to say that Switzerland is a beautiful country, but how much beautiful I didn`t know. My whole life I was listening to stories about this dream land, where most of the people earn loads of money, drive new cars, breath clean air and enjoy using fantastic transportation system, which is not far away from the truth.

This is my first, and I hope, not last visit to this adorable country. I visited the city of Basel, which is one of the biggest cities, and the main city in Northwest part of Switzerland, just below the border with Germany and France.

I was surprised how clean this country is. Compared to my poor and polluted country, Swiss streets are flawless and I was having hard time getting used to the cleanliness this country has. For example, in Basel, there were a lot of people going to work and back, the streets and trams very busy, but, I could not feel the usual tension people tend to feel when being in a large and populous city.

People are relaxed and calm, polite and helpful. I could sense the cheerfulness they bring with themselves when going out of their perfect homes and tidy apartments. I was enjoying each second of my short visit and I wanted to see as much as I could, focusing on the northwestern part of the country.

Each travel starts with booking your flight or a ticket. I was lucky that I booked my flight approximately two months before my departure, and it was quite a bargain. I managed to save some money, but luckily, thanks to my family, I didn`t have to spend too much of it.

As soon as I arrived at the Mullhouse airport I was greeted by my family and I was given a present, large box of Swiss chocolates. I was confused and I could not find the words to express my feelings.

Next day, we went to Basel and visited one of the Christmas markets they traditionally organize across the country. I was drinking Glühwein, which is traditionally cooked wine, especially made for Christmas holidays

I was amazed by the architecture and the first building of importance I noticed was the Elizabethan Cathedral situated near he centre
