Cutting Russia off from SWIFT would mean declaration of war – Russian PM

in #swift5 years ago

Restricting Russia’s access to the SWIFT international banking payment system would virtually mean a declaration of war, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has warned.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Medvedev recalled the West once seriously considered the option, and Moscow is aware of it.

“This would in fact be a declaration of war, but nevertheless it was discussed,” the Russian prime minister said, adding that this is one of the reasons why the government is looking into ways to protect the Russian part of the internet.

Syria is blocked from SWIFT for a much longer time, it's not that painful. Think of it this way: you use their network they make money out of you, you use other networks, they lose. It's sanctions against themselves.
True there will be burden transferring money from other states into Russia, that's why you should develop the alternatives much faster and start training concerned parties to use it, for sure many would join with the increasing US paranoia and the dollar and euro as well will start losing value instead of being inflated without basis.
You should also develop credit cards mechanism, that would cause huge losses of revenue for the western based cards giants and money transfer systems like online system PayPal and remittances through exchange houses. What are you waiting for?

Great. “The global interbank SWIFT” is a US-controlled criminal fascist banking system and needs to be dismantled. And Russia is specialized to dismantle fascists.
