Dumpster diving

The practice of foraging in garbage that has been put out on the street in dumpsters, garbage cans, etc., for discarded items that may still be valuable, useful, or fixable.

The Solidarity Fridge Project

I have introduced the Steem blockchain to my old friend @nicco11a which is one of the people behind this great project. We're are having a meeting where we'll talk about the platform and make sure they have an easy on boarding so they can share the idea to a much wider audience. Currently they have four open fridges in Gothenburg and it helps to save a lot of food to feed the people that are in need...

Why do I Dumpster Dive?

  • Bring awareness on how much food is wasted with our current system...
  • Save the abundance of food that is wasted and share it...
  • Minimizing costs enabling me to be less dependant on Fiat and can Power Up 100%...
  • Great regular exercise and good karma... ;)

Thursdays Weekly Meet-ups:

We meet up on Thursdays in the middle of the city to share the food we've saved during the week. It's a great way to meet, connect and support each other. We meet between 6-7 pm at the same time as the decentralized farmers market that I've initiated!

dividerblue.png

I regularly invite friends over to share the abundance of food, been doing it for many years but now I also of course make sure to introduce them to the Steem blockchain! ;)

Congratulation Sir, hope you will be more successfull. I will always support you and don't forget to support back.

Thank you for your support @jayed007! More success for us is sure to come!;)

This is insane!!!! Are the dumpsters locked? I had no idea that so much food was thrown out 😤 in all your pictures the food looks so great, nothing wrong with it at all! Great for you guys to be spreading the awareness...this is unbelievable. I wonder if the dumpsters around my town are locked up? I must go and see☺️Following and voted...you are Aaaaaamazing❤️❤️❤️

Very good your action @reko that you are executing. in our country, it is not implemented because people go directly to the containers, due to the economic crisis and the lack of food; In short, "people go hungry" and the alternative is to review in waste and survive this unfortunate situation suffered by a good percentage of Venezuelans.

It's disturbing how much stores throw away perfectly good food while people are starving in the streets. What a shame; Good on you though, I might need to look into trying this out sometime!

Please do and report to me when done. It's a real eye-opener to say the least...

You are really doing a great job @reko.
I love your efforts and commitment towards this project and your love of reaching out to people out there. All the best man

I love what you're doing! We need an operation like this in Canada, I would just be concerned about violating some ridiculous laws.

Violating immoral laws is the responsibility of every moral man;)

Great initiative, awareness and avoiding waste is a great initiative.

I heard in France some people organise to make big popular soups to poor people.

Like your slogan! May the Steem be with you ;)

wild how much you pull out of there. Ever get worried about cooking meats or seafood from there? The lack of refrigeration would make me a little dodgy

not at all especially not at this time of year as it's pretty cold here like 24/7...

aaah very true

Great works

I'm from Africa. This is hard to process. The waste that is. I'd be doing this too if we had an overabundance like that.

Yes, it's so good value to do this on all levels...

That is utterly amazing! Great work!

Exellent mission

yes, thx for the support @dobartim, it shall be a sure success!:D

Good on you brother ✊🏽

Truly awesome @reko ! Resteemed. Wish I could be there to take part!

Man, I wish I was a whale so I can upvote the heck out of this. What a great project. You're doing an amazing thing. Keep up the good work.

A fair amount of it can't have all that much shelf life, what do you do with the rest, do they have curbside compost pickup there?

You do great things, we from Indonesia always support you @reko

@reko - This is really great project to support. Wish you lot of luck and have a happy healthy day. :-)

wow so much food and many people are dying of hunger. My country is a very poor country and i wish help will come one day

It's just amazing what you do, This is really good thing that brings happiness and tell us that still good things and good people who think about the interest of the people. Thank you.

I couldn't agree with you more, it's very troubling and concerning how much of the food annually produced goes to waste (both locally and globally) I've always tried to use what I need avoiding throwing anything to the trash either by feeding street animals or eating it myself, I hate how some people buy countless boxes of food that will later just be thrown in the trash, it's a waste that eventually affects us all..
