The "letting some die to save the many" Line Of Persuasion is invalid

I have been approached more than once by people who elaborately try to justify not saving the thousands of people dying daily from lack of resources with the argument that in doing so we are saving the many, as if resources are scarce.
This Line Of Persuasion (see PSYOP manual https://fas.org/irp/doddir/army/fm3-05-301.pdf) is invalide for the following reasons:

  1. There are plenty of resources for everybody to live a life of luxury in a Resource Based Economy. Resources are only scarce in a monetary system. All we have to do is stop wasting them with this consumerist anti-economy with planned, programmed and intrinsic obsolescence.
  2. Considering people expendable means that we are expendable too and sooner or later someone will let us die, or worse. In a more general sense, the value of human life is what keeps and will keep humanity surviving in an every changing universe. Humanity survives because we help each other live and thrive.
