Surfing is a sport that is gaining exponential growth in the world; Every day there are more people who want to live the experience of riding a wave. 6 months ago I moved to Madeira Island in Portugal, a place where surfing as well as other places in the world shows an interest in Surfing.
For many years Madeira has been practicing surfing but it was not until the last 5 years that it has had its best growth momentum. Surf culture every summer takes strength and new practitioners.
Last Sunday, March 18, I went to take photographs in the "Madeira 2018 first surfing competition" in Seixal beach; I thought I saw few participants (around 15) in total of all the categories. In the past I took pictures in surf competitions in Venezuela and Ecuador and each competition lasted 2 days for the number of participants for each category. Despite having few participants the level of surfing was good and after asking some questions some people told me that every year the number of participants grows.
The island of Madeira has very good spots for surfing with world class wave conditions such as point brake, stone or coral bottoms and long surf breaks, favorable conditions for the exponential growth of this wonderful sport.
Here I share some pictures of the competition and take the opportunity to invite them to know and practice surfing and the island of Madeira in Portugal.
Tomorrow, Sunday, March 25, the "Madeira 2018 Bodyboard competition" will be held at Faja da Areia beach and I will be there documenting the event and then sharing here in steemit a bit of what that competition was.
