Sumbawa Indonesia has a special place in my heart. The people were so welcoming and friendly, the waters were warm and clear. Or as clear as they can be comparing to other spots we have been.
I could surf forever. I love the feeling you get when you ride down a wave for the first time. Or the next feeling you get when you ride it just a little bit better than the first. Oh and that feeling when you get wrecked by a big wave and wonder why you are still out here, I love that one too.
Every part of it is rewarding from a connected feeling you get while sitting out past the break waiting for your next wave to come along. All the way to the sand in your shorts when you eat the beach.
Coming from Canada and learning in fridged waters I cannot express how much better it is to ride in warm tropical waters like in Sumbawa vs the snowy surfing here. The lack of mobility the wet-suit provides is hard to go back to after surfing in shorts.
If any of you have not tried surfing it is highly recommended and you must experience it before you kick the bucket. Sumbawa is our favorite surf spot so far.
