It's summertime! Here at Garden of the Goats we've not had much play time. The grass needs cut, the weeds need trimmed, the dishes need washed, the groceries need purchased. We've been running to and fro, taking care of business, but Monday I decided it was time to enjoy the day and go to the beach!
I had my phone to take pictures, but I wished I had my good camera. A bald eagle flew over, then a minute later, another eagle flew over. Then they flew back the other direction and landed in a tree right across the water from us. We could hear what I'm guessing were their chicks begging for food. They were loud!
In this picture, the tree that is all brown with no leaves at my daughter's 12 o'clock, is the tree they were in.
My older two took turns with the life jacket, swimming out to the yellow barrier. Then they watched little sister so I could swim out and back. We stayed for about two hours, which was long enough to have a lot of fun, but not long enough to exhaust anyone.
Can you see the minnows?
We really like this beach because it has nice sand. It's not very rocky. The water doesn't get too deep until about half way out. And it's not a very busy beach. It's off the beaten path. The cost is $5.00 USD per car, per day, and it's an honor system. It is open from dawn to dusk. There are no life guards, so swim at your own risk.
We had a lot of rain in April, and the lake levels rose a lot. The beach was closed until the waters went back down the beginning of July. We were all happy about that!
The kids were thrilled to go. We are going back tomorrow with sister's family. I am hoping we'll get to go back quite a few more times before summer's end.
Love the photo's of the scenery!
