Wireless headphones - Better than cable?

in #suggestions7 years ago

Wireless headphones allow a lot of freedom of movement in your own living room and are suitable not only for music but also for movies. But are they better than headphones with cable?

The freedom of movement

To ensure that your own listening pleasure does not disturb the neighbors, more and more people are using headphones to listen to music or watch movies undisturbed. If you also have wireless headphones, you can dance to the music. Sound is undoubtedly one of the most important things in wireless headphones, as its characteristics are measured with those of a wired receiver. While many TV headphones sound good at first glance, they weaken at the latest when bass and treble are raised. The quality of the radio link also plays an important role, especially when the listener leaves the room. The wearing comfort is also not to be underestimated, as the wireless headphones are heavier than normal TV headphones due to batteries and electronics.

The technique

Infrared technology has become extinct for good reasons. Modern wireless headphones are usually digital and operate at 864 MHz or 2.4 GHz. This ensures a low-noise signal with a high probability of reception. For radio transmission, most manufacturers offer two to four alternate frequencies, as each household has several potential sources of interference, such as screens, mobile phones, etc., for example. When buying a wireless headphone, you should definitely make sure that it has rechargeable batteries. These are environmentally friendly and save money. Of course, you should pay attention to how long the headphones can be used with a battery charge. Usually two rechargeable batteries are included so that you don't have to watch your favorite movie without sound.

With or without cable?

This question can only be answered by every consumer. Of course it depends on his needs, who lives together in a flat share with several flatmates, who would like to have freedom of movement in some situations and would therefore prefer the wireless headphones. Both variants have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, you must always have an extra battery for the wireless headphones, the weight is higher and the signal or compatibility with some devices is limited. The high price is also not negligible. However, you have the freedom of movement required in some situations. Wired headphones are usually cheaper, lighter and unaffected by other devices. In order to do this, you have to give up the freedom of movement.
