I agree with what you're saying up to a certain point. I don't think it's the monetary reward that is causing the greed, and the poor social interactions. I think those people you mention would be greedy, selfish, and short sighted anyway. But consider social networks without a monetary incentive to be "a good member". Facebook, or YouTube are full of trolls, getting their fix just by being jerks, without any financial reward.
Instead, I would say we're still in "beta". Not just the platform itself, but us, the actual social network, made up of individual users. Our "steemit culture" is still just developing. But I think as a community we are much better at dealing with trolls than other platforms, and we're getting better every day, thanks to post like yours. They are much appreciated. :-)

I agree with your view point . Steemit is way better than other social media platforms in terms of rewards however where there is money incentive, there will always be greed...but still we have great people and communities isnt it?
