I started leasing delegated sp after I was here for 8 weeks in August 2017. Until Nov of 2018, I never had anyone give me a delegation for free. Now I have had a few free delegations come in, but they are temporary and I do not know if or when they will be pulled, so I just keep leasing.
I have used bid bots a bit but stopped when they started putting upper limits on them. I post 2-3 times a day most days - especially weekends and when prices drop. That is when the diehards are still here.
The best things to get me votes are:
- qurator
- sbi
- incinibot
- feedyourminnows
- posting to challenges and contests
- putting people on my autovoter and then sometimes they reciprocate.
- using dapps that vote - busy, esteem, dtube, share2steem
- pal minnowsupport discord upvote
- a few other places that upvote me because I am in their group.
I comment well over 100 times a week as widely as I can. I often see people who post as much as me and who have been here just as long as me with no sbi, no qurator, no nothing! This would be too discouraging for me.

I have bought some sbi and give it for prizes in my own few contests, but most of what I have I won in contests. The sbi blog has them listed and @contestkings daily post. Few people enter a lot of them. I am close to 200 shares now! I think my last vote from them was 7 cents, but it comes to every post, so I am happy!

I give away one SBI each week, announce that via contestkings and am dumbfounded at the low response. Well, bigger chance of getting the share for those people who would have read + commented even without the give away ;)
Exactly! You have to take what you get around here and build on success. It comes when you least expect it, I have found.
