Flea market emotions

in #streetphotography7 years ago (edited)

We’ve got 43 muscles in our faces. That’s right. 43!
We evolved like that because we are emotional beings. We have to transmit emotions and most probably, before our ancestors developed speech, we had to develop facial communication.
I like snapping an emotion in a picture. I feel like I’m stealing it from it’s author. Even if he sees me after I’ve taken it, I will run until I die before I delete it. It’s my sick, twisted game. Collections, over collections of faces, right in the middle of their actions.
Today I’ve been in the flea market. I took @vonaurolacu with me as we live pretty close by and we know this is a source of infinite frowns, smiles, yelling and shouting, colourful people, bartering, offering, advertising loudly, selling and buying. Eventhough we both photgraphed quite the same things I want you steeamians to know that we’ve made our homework and divided the shots so we don’t repeat the content, eventhough it was created by a different person. I have my people and my stories. He captured his.

Romanians eat „mici”. The earlier in the morning, the better it seems. McDonalds even created a sort of burger based on this and they advertised the hell out of it.
I don’t eat mici to often though in places like this, mici is the breakfast, the lunch and the dinner. You can have mici, steaming in the morning mist as they are taken hot from the grill. Mici practically is pork and sheep meat, with some garlic and some spices, rolled into a tubular small shape and thrown onto a szilling hot grill.
Thank you! I’ll pass...

It’s a story behind those eyes. I know it. I can see that and I’m sure each of us can if we really take the time to check it out. I saw them as we were preparing to leave. The fact that they were in a retreated part of the flea market made it even more deep. They were alone. They were not going were everybody was going to sell their merchandise. They seemed out of time, out of place and out of mind. „One flew over the cuckoos’ nest” out of mind type...

These are the kinds of shots I look for. He didn’t give a damn about me. He continued speaking to his phone while remaining locked in his gaze as I took the photo. Only after I checked the photo and I showed him the thumbs up, he sent me a small smile, again never stopping his conversation.
Who the hell buys popcorn at 8:30 AM, in the flea market?

I know him for some time already. It’s not the first time I met him. I come pretty often in the flea market and I always find him in the same cornered booth. He keeps everything that came into his life for free and only let it go if it went out through selling.
Maybe the guys from History Channel or National Geographic will see this steem post and come looking for him. Haha! That would be something!

I will attach some photos without commenting, I will like to know your opinions..

Thank you guys for checking out my photos and my content. I struggle and do the best I can to bring a little bit of my daily life’s experience in Romania with good and with bad. I hope I’ll make my country more visible through unique things you can find here. I know deep down inside that my creations will transmit emotions to other who sees it.

And that’s the most important thing...

Kisses Ciao!

@vargart, flea markets are like different planet sometimes. Specially this kind. In Novi Sad, Serbia there is large one and it's very popular during weekend. Al things are presented mostly on ground on plastic sheets, and this flea market got it's name by those sheets ..''Najlon'' meaning plastic..But it's great fun for finding cheep staff :)

We say “nailon” to all sort of plastic bullshit also. The fishing line we also call “nailon” 😂

Good story and excellent photos, @vargart. Upv&restm.

thank you ..

Let's make a theatre production. The people you captured would make perfect actors, at least because of their faces. :))
