One of the greatest obstacles to "getting noticed" at Steemit is the sheer volume of traffic on the "new" page. It is easy for good content to get lost in the shuffle. The whales of Steemit have put together some great programs to help us minnows navigate the treacherous waters of anonymity. The upvote program at PAL Discord is great. Although I have only successfully used it once. I am glad to see there is initiative to help us among the "elders" of this website.
There is also a Streemian program for curation called curie. I don't have any steem yet, so I am unable to sign up for a Streemian account until tomorrow, probably. Once I get that account, I hope to help promote good content when I find it. I have read some really good articles here that have otherwise had little attention.
Now...to the self-help. Our do-it-yourself minnow support group. Since I don't have the technical expertise to set up bots, I propose old school support. Go read an article or two of mine and upvote it. Leave a comment so I know you were there. It is easier for me to monitor the comment thread, since there is not a notification system on Streemit (hey, Streemit...are you listening...a notification button would be...awesome!). Once you comment, I will come visit your account and read a couple of your posts. If I like them, I will follow you as well. If I run into any articles that are exceptional, I will curate them through curie (once I have my account verified at Streemian).
I know our support for each other doesn't amount to much. We don't have the voting power of dolphins and whales. But it sure as hell beats having an article you spent a lot of time and effort to write floundering around with zeros on it. I get excited just to see one upvote and a penny in the payout window. Not because I need pennies. But because it says to me "what you have to say to the world has value."
So let's start supporting each other. Give each other a hand up. Because even minnows have a voice. And even with our minnow-mal voting power, if we put enough effort into supporting each other, it will have an effect eventually. After you comment, go visit some of the other people who have left a comment and show some love.
I look forward to hearing from you and the opportunity to read your stuff!

Yes, it is sad to see your posts going unnoticed, but there's too much to read. I'm not losing hope yet.
I understand about the program getting to big. The idea of smaller programs makes much more sense.
Perhaps there could be groups based on interests, like cooking or music.
I have so many interests myself, I sort of pick a day to cruise the music posts. One day for cooking particularly vegan and vegetarian. Sure I miss things but I usually can catch them in the next day or so.
We all need our own personal plan.
I like that idea. But when you use a keyword to search, you are getting the most popular content. It would be nice is we could click "music" and the sort the posts by newest to oldest.
Be cool if you did an article on upvoting yourself. Ive been looking into it and still not sure if its good or bad, but have since quit. Just an idea...keep up the good work
I think the issue with upvoting yourself...as a minnow...is that we lack voting power. It may help a little, but I think the power is greater to upvote other minnows and have numerous minnow upvotes.
Resteemed and upvoted :)
Thanks - upvoted. You may be interested in a new project I have started to help minnows further: Minnows Accelerator Project [Reward Share and 200 SP Delegated][July 2017 Signups]
This is like a big city in which you can join or create your own niche communities. But just like a city, most people get ignored outside of their niche.
My upvote just generated $0.00, so maybe I'm merely at the egg stage...not quite minnow yet ;-)
That's okay. I call myself a flounder minnow. Because I'm still floundering around. I followed you anyway. Thanks for your support in earnest, not earnings.
I was an initial member of the Minnow Support Program and it is now too big for its own good. I had to quit since it was draining not only my voting power but my bandwidth while not returning anything anymore.
I was giving out hundreds of upvotes a day and getting 1 or 2 back.
It is better to build a small community of 10 to 20 people all dedicated to supporting each other. It's why I created my own tag #ggg-politics to help keep us coordinated.
I also have a slack channel for coordinating as well. Anyone that wants an invite send me a DM on twitter (@tfl1728) for an invite. I won't broadcast the link here though, too much potential for abuse.
Awesome. Thanks. I don't use twitter or fbook.
"Old school" love it. Yes, i have been looking into the bots, lots to know. Just posting random stuff i like for now. Looking into making videos on youtube and linking. Thanks for the quality content. Upvoted!
