Stove Observation: $150 For 10 Second Call Out

Gas stove started to contentious spark a few weeks ago.

Called up the manufacture and was advised that most likely some moisture had gotten inside, and advised to turn off at the wall and leave it for 3 days. If the issue persist then schedule for a call out.

Three days later I called for the mechanic to come, I was quoted $150 for a 30 minute call out and $75 per 30 minutes after. "It shouldn’t be more than 30 minutes right?" I said to myself.

The first thing the mechanic did was pull up the knob and removed some hair and dust stuck under there which was putting pressure on the ignitor making the spark.

Problem solved, in less than 10 seconds… "No parts need to be replaced so that'll just be $150" he said.

He did stay around a bit drinking water and walking slowly to his car to bring back the forms, it almost felt like he wanted to stay around a bit longer as he didn't want me to feel bad spending $150 for 10 seconds of work.

Oh well, at least my stove is working normally now.
