The most lonely house of Iceland

In Iceland and beyond her limits this tiny house standing alone on the small island is quite widely known. There is nothing there, except the house among the wide green field surrounded with the abrupt coastline of the island. But very few people know history of this house.

On the island Ellidey which is the third largest island of Vestmannayar the amazing volcanic archipelago scattered at the southern coast of Iceland is stood by the house for a long time intriguing all with the history. What only legends didn't attribute to this house: that the house hidden from the rest of the world actually is the secret shelter for the mysterious billionaire or the fact that the house, as well as all island belongs to the singer Björk. But all this only beautiful legends.

In fact three centuries ago the island was the house for five families which have decided to build on him huts and to live here in the small closed community, being engaged in fishing both growing up cattle and hunting on deadlocks. Within the next two centuries everything was good, but finally the place became more and more impractical for life.

By 1930th years the last inhabitants have left the island. It has been connected with what was it was much more convenient to be engaged in fishing and to grow up cattle on the continent and is more practical. But here for hunting on deadlocks there was no other so convenient place therefore in the early fifties Ellingyey Hunting Association has built on the island the house under the name Ból that members of association could use him during a hunting season on deadlocks in the summer and gathering eggs of deadlocks in the spring.
