So many things to study before I risk real money though.

Daytrading consumes a lot of time and energy, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone :D Swing trading is also about timing the market, different from value investing for example.
Therefore take your time to study ;) With a relaxed attitude and willingness to learn. Everything is possible.
