One of the oldest cultures and professions in the history of man, without a doubt, is fishing. This fine art has been modified with the passing of time from harpoons, nets and fishing rods, to the majestic fishing boats capable of dragging heaps of fish in a single pass.
Fishing has maintained its economy and its demand is increasing. The Chinese are one of the main consumers of fish. For years it was thought that the sea never ran out of existence, but that it was wrong.
One of the main affected marine animals is salmon. Its main guardian is almost extinct. Sharks were hunted more than fear for their meat. Chinese companies only sell their fins, more than 1,100KG of dead meat without being consumed. The desperation of this voracious predator has brought drastic consequences to the ecosystem of the seas. The squid, an invertebrate capable of reaching 14 meters in length, has a peculiar taste for salmon, so its population is decreasing at an alarming rate. The extinction of salmon would not only unbalance marine life, but the entire ecosystem as it is currently known.
The great salmon migration is one of the most fantastic trips recorded, these during their long journey fed even without number of species. The main predator of the squid is the shark and so few are the remaining that even the squids that reach their largest size, are capable of shooting down even growing shark.
Legends speak of the mighty kraken, if the squid frenzy is not slowed down perhaps. We could retell story about this creature.
