I have working on implementing a community project and through planning I got donations of 10 Laptops from University of South Queensland in Australia. It was a friend of mine called Andrew Weppner that helped facilitate the transaction. Andrew Weppner had received some vital information about the project from me and he simply took these information to the IT department of the University and was able to convince them.
But the issue of getting the laptops transported from Australia to Nigeria became a problem because of the cost of shipping and the restrictions about batteries and other harmful substances. So I had to wait from June to September to see how things work out.
After waiting for almost 3 months I had to come up with an idea to share my projects with my friends and other close colleagues who understand the value of the community project. And to my surprise, I raised the cost of shipping within 1 month of sending just one message to each of them. What I have failed to get from my international partners, I was able to get from my friends and colleagues in Nigeria.
This shows that the primary help we need most times are from within our circle or sphere of influence and combining it with the assistant of foreign or external bodies would also go a long way. With the right information plus my good reputation with the people I know, I was able to get what I need to do what will benefit a particular community.
