Story telling time (Part 2)

Hello and welcome back to my silly story.

Today we'll be going through the second chapter, which is possibly the one I enjoyed most writting, basically this is where the "romance" part starts, I wpn't spoil it any longer but I must say from now, just to get it out of the way, no Ethan's love interest isn't and never will be Alice. What Alice's role was in chapter 1 was that of a mentor figure, the very first person who actually believed in him and his possible potential, this is why Ethan has a lot of respect for Alice and sees her as family so to speak. But more of that another time, as for now, enjoy the second chapter of my silly story. (also, fair warning for a little bad language)

Chapter 2:Making alliances with the worst of the worst

It’s been 4 years since the break out incident, a lot has changed since then, M.E.S.S. has changed its main leadership, dimension 66 was declared a possible traitorous land and is now under constant surveillance, Quimmie went to request assistance from dimension 98, Val and J finally prepared Ethan and it was time to start gathering followers for the fight to come against M.E.S.S.

(J) I’m telling you Val, it’s not a good idea to make an alliance with dimension 9, they will be the first ally to turn tail and leave us to die

(Val) I know J, that’s why we’re taking Ethan with us, I believe one of their top executives will have a soft spot for him, just like she had for you as I recall

(J) oh give me a break, the only soft spot she cares about is our throats and how she’ll manage to slice them open, do you really want to take that risk Val?

(Val) yes, Ethan is trained for every possible situation, we’ll be fine, and speaking of the devil….

(Eth) so, are we ready to go?

(J) still thinking this to be a bad idea

(Val) pull it together J, everything we need to give them is a reason to fight and we know what they want, now cut the small talk and board the ship already.

Dimension 9 is the pirate domain, the faces of their true leaders is known only by the Ovingham clan, they make sure everything goes as it should and you can never be sure when they’re watching you. Luckily Vaelmina knows the lowest ranking member of the clan, which will make things a little easier on their part, or maybe not, let’s see.

(Val) here we are, dimension 9, remember to never speak to anyone who asks how much money you’re carrying

(J) so everyone then, whatever, let’s just dock and get this over with

(Eth) wait, I need to make sure of something, we’ve come to a pirate domain and we’re just going to dock at their harbor just like that? Isn’t that just a little stupid?

(J) not really, ironicly enough the dock is a safe zone

(Val) it’s when we approach the gate the point to start worrying

(Eth) good, absolutely freaking smashing

(Val) apparently you still need training in trusting others Ethan

(J) nah, he’s fine to me, he actually seems to be using his brain the right way.

When they finally docked and got off their spaceship, they couldn’t help but notice that it was completely empty, no other ships, no cargo, no people, just an empty dock. This was obviously unusual, I mean we are talking about a place where pirates rule for goodness sake, you would expect something to go wrong. These were the thoughts of our protagonists as well, all the way up to the point when a spear landed right in front of them as they went near the gate.

(Rebecca) halt, who goes there?

(Val) it’s ok, we mean no harm

(Reb) speak out yer full names, or face a full scale bombardment

(Val) alright boys, do as she says, I’m Vaelmina Thestorious

(J) I’m Jonathan M. Silvermane

(Eth) I’m Ethan Montmerish

(Reb) heehee, we know who you are people, we were just teasing you, but we really did had cannons aimed at you, it’s good to see you again Val

(Val) it’s good to see you too, boys this gal here is Rebecca Ovingham, she’s the youngest one in her clan

(Reb) that’s Humble Rebecca Ovingham to you, if you’re going to know who’s watching over everything around here, you better treat them with respect

(Eth) sure thing, showoff….

(J) what the hell is wrong with you, are you trying to get out of here in a soup can?

(Eth) with all do respect, I think I’ll be fine

(Reb) you want to throw hands big boy?

(Eth) do you even know how to do that?

(Reb) I can throw you all the way back to your little ship with one hand, do NOT test me

(J) umm Val, he’s going to get destroyed, do something, you know her after all

(Val) not yet J, I believe it’s time to see the result of training

(Eth) I suggest you prove your words to me kid

(Reb) ALRIGHT, THAT’S IT

(Eth) BRING IT PIPSQUEEK

(J) so, how long do we have before we get blasted by cannons, you know, since they’re fighting now?

(Val) oh they’re not going to fire, their orders must be directly from Rebecca and she’s currently busy standing her ground

(J) I see, want to place bets?

(Val) sure, I’m going with Ethan, let’s say 5 gold coins?

(J) nah, your pirate friend will send him packing, you’re on, the winner gets 5 gold coins from the loser

(Val) what do we do in case they tie?

(J) rock-paper-scissors?

(Val) meh, not really, how about we each give 5 gold coins to Ethan if they tie?

(J) ok, it’s already gone too long, we’ll have a winner shortly

(Val) yup, oh look he disarmed her, let me see them J

(Eth) well, that was a good fight, you can really pack a punch, shall we call it a tie?

(Reb) works with me, but next time I’ll kick your ass, remember that

(J) hey Val

(Val) yes J?

(J) what are the chances for Ethan to have heard our betting rules?

(Val) it is very possible, or should I say probable

(J) well, you trained him and thus now know that I hate you because I owe him money now, money that I don’t have with me

(Val) I plead guilty

(J) screw you pleading guilty

(Reb) so, what’s your business here Val?

(Val) our business is with your boss Rebecca

(Reb) well, you know the rules, all 6 members of the clan must agree to that

(Eth) you have got to be kidding

(Reb) rules are rules boy, even for pirates

(J) what are waiting for, I assume we have your ok, so who’s next?

(Reb) well, there is no specific order, you need to find my other sisters and brothers, George is in the chart room, Esmerelda is in the haunted shack, Jessica is on one of the watchtowers, Wolf is guarding the entrance to our leader’s mansion and Cassandra, well, she’s somewhere, she’s always been the sneaky type

(J) I’ll speak with Wolf and Esmerelda, they sound like people I can cooperate with

(Val) I’ll go find George and Jessica, I need to know some things before we speak to their leaders

(Eth) wait, why do I have to go search for “Miss sneaky”?

(J) because, you’re still considered the new guy, or the newest at least

(Eth) fine, where should I start?

(Reb) anywhere gloomy and creepy, stand in that environment and she’ll probably come to you

(Eth) oh, good, great, grand, I dread to think what’s going to happen when she does.

And so, they scattered around “Plunder city” seeking approval from the rest of the Ovingham clan, J managed to talk it out with Esmerelda, but unfortunately for him, Wolf needed to test his resilience to damage, so he punched J in the face with a brass knuckle, Val went to George and Jessica in order to see what they had in terms of knowledge to other dimensions and military power, as well as get their approval. As for Ethan he walked for hours around plunder city looking for Cassandra, but little did he know that she was watching him all the time and she was waiting for the right time to appear, so when Ethan walked into a dead end by accident, she jumped down from the roofs and threw a
knife at him, getting him stuck to the wall.

(Cassandra) how funny, did you honestly believed you could find me, here in my hometown? Pathetic, yet a little amusing

(Eth) let me go, I mean no harm

(Cass) hahahaha, of course you don’t, you can’t cause me harm, trust me on that, I’ll ask only once, what do you want from me?

(Eth) I need your approval in order to speak with your boss

(Cass) do you now? Alright, here’s what you need to do, I’ll give you about 20 minutes, if I don’t find you in this time period, you have my approval, if I do find you however, prepare to defend yourself, oh and watch your neck, I have a thing for rivers you see, especially red ones, now run little rat, run like your life depended on it, oh wait….heeheehee, hahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

(Eth) good grief she’s terrifying, now I need to think and run, where is the only place she doesn’t know what to expect? Ohh, who am I kidding, I can’t hide from here, she knows every corner of this place, I must take a stand, but not here, I need open space, oh the docks!

(Cass) poor thing, if only he wasn’t a loud thinker

(Eth) there’s the gate, I can do this….

(Cass) sorry little rat, you’re not fast enough, I’m surprised that you found my weakness of open spaces, that’s why I can’t let you past this gate, now prepare yourself

(Eth) ok, don’t say I didn’t warn you when we’re done

(Cass) defiant ‘till the very end, admirable

(Eth) TAKE THIS

(Cass) wrong move little rat, you never attack an agile opponent head on, now make one move and we’ll know how long can you last when your throat is cut wide open

(Eth) damn you….

(Cass) SILENCE, at one point you’re lucky, I will take you to my leaders, but it will not be for your profit, it will be for your execution.

Cassandra dragged Ethan all the way to her leaders’ mansion with her knife on his throat. After they entered however, Ethan was surprised to see that both Val and J were there too, along with the rest of the
Ovingham clan. Wolf approached him while raising his hand in order to strike

(Cass) OW, what’s the big idea Wolf?

(Wolf) you know the rules Cass, no killing outsiders without direct order

(Cass) I don’t know about you but he looks well alive to me

(Wlf) still, there was no reason to place a blade to his neck

(Cass) party pooper, no cake for you, besides you know I could not kill him, he’s the first interesting thing in years

(Eth) what does she mean by…..

(Wlf) DON’T ask that, trust me

(Cass) like you don’t know, cutie

(Eth) oww drats

(J) and that’s why you had to go look for the sneaky one here

(Reb) oh please, since when was he could be considered a “ladies man”

(J) well, about 4 years ago, am I right Ethan?

(Eth) J, when we’re done from here, I’m going to beat you up so hard, your entire kingdom will feel the pain

(Val) right, now I believe we still need your approval dear Cassandra

(Cass) cut the polite trash with me girl, you have my approval, that’s why I dragged dear Ethan here

(Jessica) then it’s settled, hands where I can see them people, now

(J) hey, what’s the meaning of this?

(Jess) shut your trap and do as I say

(Val) J listen to Jessica, this is part of us meeting their leaders

(J) why did I agree to all this?

(Jess) step inside this circle

(Cass) and get ready to fly heehee

(Eth) WHAT?!?!?!?

Suddenly a trap door opened below our protagonists feet and they started falling. Val turned into a bat and started diving, J simply sped up his fall and as for Ethan he went towards the wall and tried to slow down with his weapon, when he managed to stop however, he realized he’s stuck there when he heard a laughter echoing from above, a few moments later he was pulled down again by Cassandra. They kept falling
for a long way, when at some point Cassandra threw a knife with a rope to the wall and started swinging towards a cave on the wall, kicking Ethan away at the same time. Ethan ended up landing at a large deep pool of water along with J when the ground below them started rising, pushing them out of the water and in front of the pirate leaders, while the Ovingham clan was sitting in a circle around them.

(Lawrence) so, you requested an audience with us, how very interesting

(Bart) indeed, what could a vampire, a king and a…. scoundrel want to ask of us?

(L) well Wolf, we’re waiting

(Wlf) yes sir, they seek the alliance and cooperation of our dimension in order to overthrow M.E.S.S.

(B) that’s a waste of time and manpower, your request is rejected outsiders

(Val) please, we must ask you to reconsider, we need your naval power or else we lose

(L) our decision is final, we do not help those who asks as to fight without something to gain

(Val) but….

(Eth) Val, let me take it from here, there is something for you to fight for, help us take down M.E.S.S. and all their wealth and valuables that fall in our hands from dimension 1 is yours for the taking

(B) now there’s one that can make a good point

(L) spoken like a true pirate indeed, then it’s settled, considering we get to plunder dimension 1, you can be sure to count on captain Lawrence Brawlgull

(B) and captain Bart Rigwrecker, now leave, we have business to attend to

(J) how did you do that? We didn’t taught you that

(Eth) it’s all about good business J, guess being a Montmerish has its perks right?

(Val) I just hope you can pull the same stunt with the rest of those we have to make an alliance, let’s get out of here, next stop is dimension 78, that’s where we‘ll meet with Quimmie.

There goes everything well with the pirates, sometimes you have to wonder how all this will end, right now even I don’t know. Anyway, Val, J and Ethan traveled to dimension 78 making allies on the way there, as for now, they need to find Quimmie, so keep reading chapter 3, it’s about to get good, or better, depends on how you see it.

Is it too obvious that I have a little obsession with pirates? Because I do, just like I have with other things as well. During this chapter I wanted to try my luck with the creation of a somewhat crazy character, to my estimation Cassandra is decent enough to fill that role, but anyway, look forward to more in-depth charachter analysis in the following days as well as something a little different coming from the real life, spoilers: it's about sea-scouts, until then...
